In late 2020, I was hired as a freelance product photographer for Biena Chickpea Snacks, a brand that blends better-for-you snacking with irresistible flavor. Their brief for the shoot included making a few recipes with their product. One of the standout dishes from that food photography contract was a festive peppermint chocolate bark—honey roasted crispy chickpeas adding an unexpected crunch to the classic holiday treat.
I leaned into the holiday spirit with styling, incorporating bottle brush Christmas trees, baker’s twine, and candy canes to complement the peppermint bark. The result? A visually compelling, seasonal image that resonated with audiences and reinforced Biena’s place in the better-for-you snack category. This timeless treat is still one they repost each holiday season.

Fast forward to today, I am still a cpg product photographer and that same concept seamlessly evolved into my latest shoot for Biena: Valentine’s Bark. Sticking with the chocolate base and the honey roasted variety of their signature crispy chickpeas, I swapped the candy canes for pink and red candy sprinkles and refreshed the styling with vintage valentines and roses. The rustic chunks of broken chocolate bark still tell the same delicious story—just in a way that feels fresh, relevant, and timely for Valentine’s Day.
