My prayer life includes praying with seasoned Christians as well as baby Christians. The veterans give me inspiration with the variety of styles they share me. Those new to the prayer scene allow me to really appreciate the relationship I have with my Lord, and I am by their side in prayer as they learn that prayer is just a conversation with God.
In 2015, my Lenten discipline was to recount the ways that prayer fed my soul. I wrote a short devotional of sorts, titled Pray More, that recounted some of the ways that I pray. Designed not as an instruction booklet, but instead as a jumping in point – providing sources of variety for anyone’s spiritual practice. The great thing about prayer is that there are dozens of ways to pray. There is no rulebook.
Because I enjoy hand lettering, I created an art piece to accompany each of the passages in the booklet. Creating faith-based art is an escape for me and allows me to turn over my troubles over while I focus on His promises.
Do you know the story of David and Goliath? David’s mastery with the slingshot was so acute that he could protect his sheep, but God took this skill and gave him the courage to use this ability for something much bigger. If David’s slingshot skills benefited the greater flock of God’s kingdom, perhaps my reflection could too. With the hope that others would also be inspired to Pray More, I make this booklet available to others. It has been read in 21 countries, that I know of. Just last week, I was notified that it was enjoyed by women in the Dominican Republic as it was used to bless and teach them as a part of their women’s retreat. My heart was filled knowing this, and then I realized that if you were not among the few hundred that got a printed or digital copy last year, I need to offer you one.
If you would like a complimentary copy of this little book, Pray More, which is full of ways to incorporate prayer into your life, along with hand illustrated & painted scripture verses throughout, you just need to send me a message!
